love as fiction

Submitted on : Nov 1, 2009
Every day the distance grows
leaving behind the me
I was with
you

Every day the tears are fewer
the grief retreats
ebbs
flows
surges

No more
please!
my cries go
unheeded, unanswered

memories that feed
on my
Promethean heart
healed by day
torn apart anew
each night

Forget deny
erase my soul
itself
betrayed abandoned
my love
my hope
my dreams

My One

Silly, demanding
heart
heroes and happiness
are best left
to the pages of a book

Fiction, of course
